Sol Leiman – Merit Badge College

What: Merit Badge College is an opportunity for all Boy Scouts to meet with qualified counselors and earn merit badges needed for advancement towards ranks including required badges for Eagle Scout. Scouts below the rank of FIRST CLASS have access to the Five Arrows Advancement Program as well as some Merit Badge classes.

ADULT EDUCATION ranges from carded classes like Youth Protection and Safe Swim Defense to Supplemental Training; How to Teach a Merit Badge, Life to Eagle, and Conducting Boards of Review. Register early as these classes fill up rapidly and have a space cap.

When: March 9 – 11, 2018.

Where: TBD.

Camping: As in past years the College suggests you consider camping at Barbara Goleman to facilitate scheduling of classes to be “on time.” Camping sites are available and will accommodate all Scouts from your unit.  Open fires are not allowed. The College Camping chairman will be available on the school grounds to assign each campsite.

Meals: All meals are prepared by the College, served in the cafeteria for Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner including Sunday breakfast.

Leadership: Each Unit is expected to register at least TWO paid adults with the boys and provide at least TWO adults to volunteer their assistance to the College. We are especially in need of Merit Badge Counselors and Five Arrow Instructors.

Cost: There is a $30 unit registration fee and $30 per Scout and Adult fee. There is a $10 fee for Adults attending Adult classes only, which includes 1 meal-Lunch.

MB Counselors: There is no charge to register as Merit Badge Counselor if not a registered attendee of the College. Counselors will be provided meals commensurate with their class schedules. Refunds: The unit registration fee is non-refundable. On or before the “Scout & Adult Registration” March 5, 2017 cutoff date, the Scout and Adult portion of the fee is refundable, provided a written refund or email request is received by the SL-MBC Advisor, Otto Goedhart ( Refunds will be mailed approximately sixty 60 days after the event to the “Leader of Record” per the Unit’s registration. After the “Scout & Adult Registration” March 5, 2017 cutoff date, all amounts paid are non-refundable if the Troop or Scout does not attend.
