COPE and Climbing Level I Instructor Training
Open to currently BSA Registered Adult Leaders over 21 years old,
We will also train COPE Instructors-In-Training whom are between 16 to 21 years of age and
are currently registered BSA members- whom may take the same training
8:00 AM to 6:00 PM- must attend all sessions (Saturday, Sept 18 and Sunday Sept 19)
“Come out and learn how to run programs on the Camp Elmore COPE & Climbing Course.
Course will consist of Level 1 COPE/Climbing Instructor Training— 1 year Training Term.
To attend the Level II COPE Director Course on October 1-3, 2021– this course is a pre-requisite, as well and having the approval from Anna Brown- SF Council COPE Program Manager to attend.

so your training is registered with National, BSA.
Cost of this Instructor training is $50 the total of $ 50 will be deducted in the
form of credit to your Unit the first time you bring your Unit out and run a program for
them during your 1 year Training Term period. By becoming trained you can now assist
when your Unit comes out to Camp Elmore, for a reserved and paid COPE or Climbing Session.

Required COVID form to bring to camp South Florida Council Camper Daily COVID Questionnaire
To enroll YOU must also affirm that you will work 5 (five) COPE or Climbing days during the same
year at Camp Elmore as a volunteer Instructor, with the first 2 days being in the first three months after your training.
All COPE Level I Instructors will work under the direction and supervision of a COPE LEVEL II Instructor when on the COPE Course.
“If you do not use the training you will forget and be considered unsafe to run programs until you retrain.”
You must renew this training once every year. This training may not be used to facilitate COPE or Climbing outside of
South Florida Council COPE Committee pre-approved and organized events or activities, and may not be run at the Unit Level.
Instructors may not serve once they have expired unless they renew this training.
NO WALK INS will be permitted
Only properly pre-registered, and pre-approved participants may attend this training.
Once registered you will be notified with further instructions and your approval to attend
Social distancing, proper sanitization of all equipment, and masks will be utilized.
No person may participate, or be on the Camp Elmore property whom:
- Has a temperature greater than 100 degress. Parents/Guardians included
- Has any COVID symptoms.
- Has been exposed to any person whom has had COVID within the last 14 days
- Does not arrive wearing their own properly fitting personal mast/face covering
- If you were tested for COVID (for any reason) in the last 14 days, and you have not already received back NEGATIVE results do not participate
Adult & COPE Instructor-In-Training participants Only- no additional guests or youth may be brought due to limited social distancing space required.
Classes taught by certified South Florida Council COPE Level II Instructors

Class will be from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM- must attend all sessions and arrive on time
Class size will be limited to 12 participants. All participants must furnish their own non perishable lunch. Water will be provided-
Registration does NOT guarantee acceptance you will be notified of your acceptance for this course. This course may be
strenuous to some– and taking the course does not guarantee becoming trained. All participants must present a current
