2021 National Scout Jamboree

Join Scouts, Venturers and Scouters of the South Florida Council as part of the Council’s official Jamboree Contingent Troops or Crew and experience Scouting’s largest national event – The National Scout Jamboree.  Every four years, the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America organizes the ultimate Boy Scout experience, the National Jamboree! It is a National encampment that brings together Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts, and adult leaders from throughout the country, along with visiting Scouts from other parts of the world. It is the ultimate in Scouting experiences where you will be able to take part in mountain climbing, kayaking, rafting, shooting, SCUBA and many, many more activities, while meeting Scouts from around the world.

2021 South Florida Council Jamboree Contingent Now Forming

The South Florida Council plans to send two troops (36 youth male, 18 youth female, 4 adult male, and 2 adult female) and two Crews  (16 youth and 2 adult males, 2 adult females) to the 2021 Jamboree. (This may change based on enrollment)

Applications:

Online Applications must be completed with the 2021 National Jamboree website once it opens in late December 2019. A South Florida Council 2021 National Jamboree Application will be completed additionally with our Council to be eligible to attend.

Cost

The current estimated Jamboree cost is $2,400.00.  The Council Jamboree committee does their best to deliver value when planning for the Jamboree, however, there are costs that are beyond the control of the South Florida Council. For example, transportation contracts cannot be signed until much closer to the actual Jamboree departure date and prices may change. Costs may also be affected if the Jamboree contingent of two troops and one crew is less than full. This fee includes Jamboree fee, transportation, sight seeing, side trip and overnight, meals, uniform patches, medical insurance, duffel bag, day pack, t-shirts, hat.

Council Deposit $ 750.00 (non refundable) is due with your National Jamboree Council Application.

Once any remaining NJ fees are paid they become non refundable- however the funds over/above the $ 750 deposit may be transferred to another Scout whom has been accepted in the Council NJ Program, once approved by Council . Once we have reached a full Contingient of  paid participants, it will allow us to reiumburse you these transferred funds over your non refundable deposit.

Youth Contingent Eligibility Requirements

Scouts BSA and Venturers

  • Be a currently registered member of a Scouts BSA Troop.
  • Be at least a First Class Scout by the first day of the Jamboree.
  • Be at least age 12 by the first day of the Jamboree or be age 11 and have graduated from 6th grade but have not reached age 18 by the last day of the Jamboree, and Venture Scouts must be younger than 21 for the duration of the trip.
  • In good physical condition. A lot of physical activity and walking must be done.
  • Willing to be part of a group. Tasks will include setting up and tearing down the campsite, cooking, washing dishes, picking up food, and other campsite chores.
  • Participate in jamboree troop meetings and pre-jamboree training experience.
  • Submit a completed health and medical record before the pre-jamboree training experience.
  • Be approved by the unit leader and local council.
  • Meet all BSA medical screening and BMI requirements. The AHMR must be dated on or after July 1, 2020.
  • Agree to Participant Statement of Understanding and Code of Conduct.
  • Submit all registration fees by March 30, 2021.

Adult Contingent Leader Eligibility Requirements

Adult Jamboree contingent participants are selected by the Council Jamboree Committee after a review process and interview. Application does not guarantee selection as a Jamboree adult leader. An expectation of Jamboree leadership is that they will help actively recruit youth participants to fill contingent spaces.

Scouts BSA Leaders and Venture Leaders

  • Be a currently registered adult leader of a Scouts BSA Troop or Venture Crew in South Florida Council. Jamboree Scoutmaster candidates must be currently serving as a Scoutmaster. Jamboree Crew Advisor must be currently serving in the Crew Advisor position.
  • Scoutmaster and 1st Asst. Scoutmaster candidates must be at least age 21 by the first day of the Jamboree. 2nd Asst. Scoutmaster candidates must be at least age 18 by the first day of the Jamboree. 3rd Asst. Scoutmaster candidates must be at least age 18 by the first day of the Jamboree but not age 21 by the last day of the Jamboree. (There will be 4 Adult positions and 36 youth total in the each  Jamboree Troops. There will be 2 Adults and 8 youth in each of the Venture Crew)
  • Have completed all required training for your registered position
  • Candidates will be interviewed by the Jamboree Committee, and be approved by the Dir of Support Services prior to being able to register online.
  • Complete Youth Protection Training within one year of the first day of the Jamboree.
  • In good physical condition. A lot of physical activity and walking must be done.
  • Final approval for all adult positions is by the Scout Executive
  • Meet all BSA medical screening and BMI requirements. The AHMR must be dated on or after July 1, 2020.
  • Submit all registration fees by March 30, 2021.
  • A registration form for adults who are interested will be appearing shortly.

 

Council and unit fundraising opportunities will be available to assist all participants in earning their own way to the 2021 National Jamboree. The Council will also utilize a payment plan to assist families in spreading out the fees from deposit up through final payments by April 30, 2021.

Do you want to work as a Volunteer Staff member at the 2021 National Jamboree?  Service Team Applications will open on the 2021 National Jamboree website in December 2019, for qualified Scouts BSA, Venturers and Adult leaders wishing to participate whom qualify. You will apply directly with National BSA and not with South Florida Council for this opportunity. Our Council is required to approve all applicants for a volunteer position for the 2021 Jamboree.
